About f7

f7 denotes a shaft tolerance zone with close running deviation in the ISO 286 system. It is used in H8/f7 (Accurate machines and shafts in plain bearings at moderate speeds and pressures: machine tool spindles, gearbox shafts.) and H7/f7 (Sliding parts and journals at moderate speeds with noticeable but small play.).

At Ø25 mm f7 is −0.020 / −0.041 mm, i.e. 24.959 to 24.980 mm.

How the limits are calculated

f7 uses grade IT7 (a standard tolerance of 21 µm at 18–30 mm). Fundamental deviation: es is tabulated directly by ISO 286-1 Table 2; ei = es − IT7. See the fundamental deviation table for every letter. Values per ISO 286-1:2010.
