About j5

j5 denotes a shaft tolerance zone with transition deviation in the ISO 286 system.

At Ø25 mm j5 is +0.005 / −0.004 mm, i.e. 24.996 to 25.005 mm.

How the limits are calculated

j5 uses grade IT5 (a standard tolerance of 9 µm at 18–30 mm). Fundamental deviation: ei is tabulated directly by ISO 286-1 Table 2; es = ei + IT5. See the fundamental deviation table for every letter. Values per ISO 286-1:2010.
